Explanation of Group Certification

The process leading to registration as a certified group is shown in the chart above. After registration, certified groups can train elementary English instructor candidates and turn out certified instructors through the process of planning courses, holding courses and receiving certification results.
Registration of Certified Groups
In order to be able to confer J-Shine's instructor license, groups carrying out English educational activities must be certified by J-Shine as fulfilling the conditions to train instructors and register with J-Shine.
Once they have passed this group certification review, groups with confirmed registration are known as 'Registered Groups'. Once this review and registration are completed, registered groups receive a certification form from the committee.

Planning Courses
When registered groups holding training courses for elementary English instructors wish to hold instructor training courses where licenses are to be given to persons who have completed the course, an "Instructor Development Course Plan" (to be completed in the format specified by the committee) is to submitted to the committee during the planning stages. These courses must be planned based on the J-Shine Shared Curriculum. Once a course plan incorporating the Shared Curriculum is completed, it is to be submitted to the Elementary English Instructors' Certification Committee.

Holding Courses
Upon receiving a "Notice of Licensing Course Approval," groups may hold courses based on the course plans submitted. Once a course is held, groups are to send lists of the candidates whom they recommend for instructor licensing to the committee along with the registration fee. (Persons who do not wish to be licensed need not be included on the list.)
Receiving Certification Results
Once it has received lists of recommendations from groups, J-Shine works to provide licenses based on the instructions of its certification committee. Based on the results, J-Shine will send certifications and certificates directly to applicants who have been licensed as instructors.
Additionally, information regarding certified instructors is added to the instructor database on the J-Shine web site.
